Likewise, \u2018<em>Ratri\u2019<\/em>\u00a0means \u2018night\u2019 and \u2018<em>Charya\u2019<\/em>\u00a0mean \u2018regimens.\u2019 In\u00a0<em>Ayurveda<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Ratricharya<\/em>\u00a0have been described as the ideal sequence of routines to follow in order to live a healthy and long life. It is indicated for a healthy individual. Apart from\u00a0<em>Dinacharya, Ayurveda<\/em>\u00a0describes the specific set of dietary and lifestyle guidelines for each season and is termed\u00a0<em>Ritucharya<\/em>. The word \u2018<em>Ritu\u2019<\/em>\u00a0means \u2018season\u2019 and \u2018<em>Charya\u2019<\/em>\u00a0means \u2018regimens.\u2019\u00a0<em>Ayurveda<\/em>\u00a0places a greater focus on disease prevention than disease treatment. If a person does not follow the\u00a0<em>Dinacharya, Ratricharya\u00a0<\/em>and<em>\u00a0Ritucharya<\/em>\u00a0schedules as instructed, and then he may become ill. Almost all lifestyle disorders may be avoided by practicing these regimens. One needs to modify or alter certain activities in each season. Therefore, variation in\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0is necessary according to a particular\u00a0<em>Ritu.<\/em>\u00a0Hence, this study is an effort that has been made to opt for following the sequence of\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0based on\u00a0<em>Ayurvedic<\/em>\u00a0texts advocated for healthy individuals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page_content\">\n<h2 id=\"Aims_and_Objectives\">Aims and Objectives<\/h2>\n<div data-id=\"Aims_and_Objectives\">\n<p>The purpose of this study is to put forward the idea of the alteration of regimens of\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0for\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1. To explain\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Ratricharya<\/em>\u00a0as per different\u00a0<em>Ayurvedic<\/em><br \/>\n2. To describe the altered\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Ratricharya<\/em>\u00a0specially for\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page_content\">\n<h2 id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">Materials and Methods<\/h2>\n<div data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p>A detailed literature review on the concepts of\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>\u00a0was carried out from\u00a0<em>Charaka Samhita<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Sushrutha Samhita, Ashtanga Hridayam, Ashtanga Sangraha, Bhavaprakasha Nighantu<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"last  column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">and\u00a0<em>Sharangdhara<\/em>\u00a0<em>Samhita<\/em>. In addition, online research databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar were searched for the relevant materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Dinacharya<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0<em>Brahma-Muhurta Jagrana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To wake up early in the morning):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To stay healthy, an individual should wake up early in the morning especially in\u00a0<em>Brahma<\/em>&#8211;<em>Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0considering whether the food consumed last night is digested properly or not. It results in longevity and healthy life. After waking up in the morning, one should bow to God and then look into\u00a0<em>Darpana<\/em>\u00a0(Mirror). If possible, one should also look and touch\u00a0<em>Dadhi<\/em>\u00a0(Curd),\u00a0<em>Ghritta<\/em>, Yellow mustard,\u00a0<em>Bilwa<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Gorochana<\/em>, and a garland of flowers. These activities are beneficial and liable to create and infuse positivity by changing the external and internal environment. The timing of\u00a0<em>Brahma-Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0has been described as one\u00a0<em>Aho-Ratra<\/em>\u00a0(day and night) having thirty\u00a0<em>Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0when the duration of day and night is the same.\u00a0<em>Brahma-Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0is the fourteenth\u00a0<em>Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0out of fifteen\u00a0<em>Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0of night. The time of sunrise varies each day according to geographic location and season of the year. So, the timing of the fourteenth\u00a0<em>Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0may also be changing. During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0sun rises early while in other\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0sun rises comparatively later. So, the time of\u00a0<em>Brahma-Muhurta<\/em>\u00a0will be earlier during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0as compared to another\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0i.e., begins at 4:24 a.m., and ends at 5:12 a.m.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0<em>Ushapana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To drink water on waking up in the morning):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One must drink the water they stored all night after waking up.\u00a0<em>Ushapana<\/em>\u00a0begins in the fourth\u00a0<em>Prahara<\/em>\u00a0of the night and lasts till shortly before sunrise.\u00a0<em>Ushapana<\/em>\u00a0requires eight\u00a0<em>Prasrita<\/em>\u00a0(or 770 ml) of water for oral consumption and three\u00a0<em>Prasrita<\/em>\u00a0(or 230 ml) for nasal consumption. Our Acharya advised that during\u00a0<em>Vasanta Ritu<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, water should be collected from\u00a0<em>Koopa<\/em>\u00a0(wells) and\u00a0<em>Prasrava<\/em>\u00a0(waterfalls).<strong><sup>[1,2,3]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0However, water from wells and waterfalls is no longer drinkable due to rising contamination at every level. As a result, for\u00a0<em>Ushapana<\/em>, any clean water should be utilized. The temperature of the water should be approximately 37\u00b0C, which is the same as the temperature of the body.\u00a0<em>Ushapana<\/em> activates bowel movements which facilitate fecal<\/p>\n<div class=\"first column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">matter of the large intestine to move towards the rectum and activate the urge to defecate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<em>\u00a0Mala-Utsarga<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To pass the natural urges):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Mala-Utsarga<\/em>\u00a0should be practiced, especially in the morning, and the urge should not be resisted. It prolongs life and eliminates\u00a0<em>Adhamana<\/em>\u00a0(bloating),\u00a0<em>Antrakoojana<\/em>\u00a0(gargling), and\u00a0<em>Udara Gaurava<\/em>\u00a0(abdominal weight).<strong><sup>[4,5]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Mala (faecal matter) may become hard during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>. The big intestine will absorb the water content from faeces if it is kept in the body for an extended period of time because the body is already dehydrated during this\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>. If one resists the need, urine may also become more concentrated and acidic as a result of water reabsorption. Therefore, before starting their daily routine, a person should make it a habit to perform\u00a0<em>Mala-Utsarga<\/em>\u00a0in the morning. The habit or conditioned reflex can be established if one practices this behavior every day at a specific time, such as after\u00a0<em>Ushapana<\/em>\u00a0in the morning, in accordance with the Pavlov Principle of developing conditional reflex.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4<em>. Achamana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To sprinkle water on the face):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One should sit facing north or east and wash their hands before practicing\u00a0<em>Achamana<\/em>. Clean water should be poured into both hands until the base of the thumb. The use of just one hand is not advised. After\u00a0<em>Achamana<\/em>, one should place wet hands over both eyes. Eye illnesses do not develop.<strong><sup>[6,7]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0In the Bhavaprakasha, different\u00a0<em>Kaala<\/em>\u00a0for\u00a0<em>Achamana<\/em>\u00a0is stated, including when one awakens, before praying to God, after taking a bath, before and after eating, after sneezing, after travelling, after cutting one&#8217;s nails, hair, etc., and after brushing one&#8217;s teeth.<strong><sup>[8]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0<em>Achamana<\/em>\u00a0should be performed several times each day throughout\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>. In hot weather, using cold water (water that is the same temperature as your body) might be helpful because it instantly cools the body.\u00a0<em>Ashtanga Samgraha<\/em>\u00a0states that\u00a0<em>Achamana<\/em>\u00a0(sprinkling water on the mouth) should be performed following the satisfaction of morning natural cravings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5<em>. Danta-Dhawana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<em>Pratisarana<\/em>\u00a0(To brush &amp; massage teeth &amp; gums respectively):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One should do\u00a0<em>Danta-Dhawana<\/em>\u00a0twice daily i.e., in the morning and after every meal. New\u00a0<em>Datauna<\/em>\u00a0(twig) should be used every time. (9)(10) To calm accumulated\u00a0<em>Vata Dosha<\/em>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"last  column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">, one should brush their teeth with a\u00a0<em>Madhura<\/em>\u00a0<em>Rasa<\/em>-dominant\u00a0<em>Datauna<\/em>\u00a0(twig). Among the\u00a0<em>Madhura<\/em>\u00a0<em>Rasa<\/em>\u00a0dominating\u00a0<em>Datauna<\/em>\u00a0(twigs),\u00a0<em>Madhuka<\/em>\u00a0is regarded as the best. The herbs\u00a0<em>Arka, Vata, Karanja, Bilwa<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Champaka, Shirisha<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Apamarga, Dadima,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Jati<\/em>\u00a0can also be utilised during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>. Despite the fact that these herbs&#8217;\u00a0<em>Rasa<\/em>\u00a0is not\u00a0<em>Madhura, Vata Shamaka<\/em>\u00a0describes their characteristics.\u00a0<em>Pratisarana<\/em>\u00a0should be conducted with\u00a0<em>Tejovati Churna, Saindhava Lavana<\/em>\u00a0mixed with oil,\u00a0<em>Churna<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Trikatu<\/em>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<em>Daalachini<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Ellaichi<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Tejapatra<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Trivarga<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Trisugandhi<\/em>) combined with honey, and\u00a0<em>Churna<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Trivarga<\/em>\u00a0&amp;\u00a0<em>Daalachini<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Vata<\/em>\u00a0is being calmed by all of these\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>. Applying precisely formulated\u00a0<em>Churna<\/em>\u00a0(powder) as indicated above to the crushed side of\u00a0<em>Datauna<\/em>\u00a0is the proper method for brushing teeth. In order to prevent gum damage, teeth should be brushed one at a time.<strong><sup>[11,12]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<em>\u00a0Jihva-Nirlekhana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To scrap\/clean the tongue):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Danta-Dhawana<\/em>\u00a0should be followed by\u00a0<em>Jihva<\/em>&#8211;<em>Nirlekhana<\/em>\u00a0using\u00a0<em>Jilva-Nirlekani<\/em>, which can be made of metals such as\u00a0<em>Hema<\/em>\u00a0(Gold),\u00a0<em>Rajata<\/em>\u00a0(Silver),\u00a0<em>Tamra<\/em>\u00a0(Copper), and\u00a0<em>Trapu<\/em>\u00a0(Tin).\u00a0<em>Jilva-Nirlekhani<\/em>\u00a0can also be made of\u00a0<em>Riti<\/em>\u00a0(brass) and\u00a0<em>Datauna<\/em>\u00a0(twig).<strong><sup>[13]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0The most\u00a0<em>Madhura<\/em>\u00a0of all metals is\u00a0<em>Hema<\/em>\u00a0(Gold). Therefore, using a gold\u00a0<em>Jilva-Nirlekhni<\/em>\u00a0during the\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0can be advantageous. However, due to the very expensive cost of gold, it is not practical to create\u00a0<em>Jihva Nirlekhani<\/em>\u00a0from it. As a result,\u00a0<em>Jihva-Nirlekhani<\/em>\u00a0of various metals are now accessible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.<em>\u00a0Mukha-Netra Prakshalana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To wash oral cavity and eyes):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0<em>Jihva-Nirlekhana<\/em>, one should wash one&#8217;s face. According to advice from our classics, cleaning the mouth and eyes should be done specifically. Cold water,\u00a0<em>Ksheeri Vriksha<\/em>\u00a0decoction with milk added, and\u00a0<em>Amlaki<\/em>\u00a0decoction can all be utilised for\u00a0<em>Mukha-Netra Prakshalana<\/em>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Rakta-Pitta<\/em>, acne,\u00a0<em>Nyachha<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Vyanga<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Shosha<\/em>\u00a0are all destroyed by\u00a0<em>Mukha<\/em>\u00a0<em>Prakshalana<\/em>\u00a0with cold water.<strong><sup>[14]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0This procedure should be adopted at least three to four times a day during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.<em>\u00a0Anjana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To apply collyrium):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Daily use of\u00a0<em>Souviranjana<\/em>\u00a0and weekly\u00a0<em>Srotoanjana<\/em>\u00a0has been mentioned in\u00a0<em>Ayurvedic<\/em>\u00a0texts.\u00a0<em>Souviranjana<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Srotoanjana&#8217;s<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"first column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">identification is debatable in the present period. Therefore, a homemade\u00a0<em>Anjana<\/em>-like black suite formed by burning of\u00a0<em>Tila-Taila<\/em>\u00a0lamp can be advocated because it is time-tested, safe for the eyes and used by people for ages. Useful\u00a0<em>Anjana<\/em>\u00a0can also be created from herbal ingredients. When performing the\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, weak\u00a0<em>Anjana<\/em>\u00a0should not be employed, and the eyes should be rinsed with cold water after\u00a0<em>Anjana<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<em>\u00a0Nasya<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Oleation of the nose):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The age range for\u00a0<em>Nasya<\/em>\u00a0is between 7- 80 years. However,\u00a0<em>Pratimarsha<\/em>\u00a0<em>Nasya<\/em>\u00a0usage is advised from birth until death.\u00a0<em>Pratimarsha Nasya<\/em>\u00a0should not cause\u00a0<em>Utklesha<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Dosha<\/em>\u00a0and should not be detectable in saliva. The recommended dosage is two drops or one drop in each nostril.<strong><sup>[15]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu, Nasya<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0<em>Anu Taila<\/em>\u00a0should be done during\u00a0<em>Saanya Kaala\/Aprahana<\/em>\u00a0(evening). Although\u00a0<em>Nasya<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Katu<\/em>\u00a0oil (<em>Sarshapa<\/em>\u00a0oil) has also been recommended for daily use but it is least advisable due to the irritant nature of\u00a0<em>Sarshapa Oil<\/em>.<strong><sup>[16,17]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>10<em>. Kavala &amp; Gandusha<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To swish &amp; rinse\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>\u00a0in the oral cavity):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu, Madhu, Milk<\/em>\u00a0and cold water can be used for\u00a0<em>Gandusha<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Kavala<\/em>.<strong><sup>[18]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0The best dosage for\u00a0<em>Gandusha<\/em>\u00a0is one that fills the mouth with liquid halfway. For a moderate dose, the mouth should be filled up to one-third of the way, and for a low dose, only one-fourth of the way.<strong><sup>[19]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0For\u00a0<em>Gandusha<\/em>, a\u00a0<em>Kola Pramana<\/em>\u00a0(6 gms) dose of\u00a0<em>Kalka Dravya<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>Churna<\/em>\u00a0is advised. One\u00a0<em>Karsha<\/em>\u00a0(12 gms) of\u00a0<em>Kalka Dravya<\/em>\u00a0has been recommended for\u00a0<em>Kavala<\/em>, according to\u00a0<em>Acharya Sharangdhara<\/em>.<strong><sup>[20]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>11<em>. Dhoompana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To inhale medicated smoke):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0<em>Prayogika Dhoompana<\/em>\u00a0can be utilized after\u00a0<em>Kavala-Gandusha<\/em>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0to calm\u00a0<em>Utkleshita Vata<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Kapha<\/em>\u00a0because of these treatments, even though\u00a0<em>Dhoompana<\/em>\u00a0is contraindicated during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>. Exhale through the mouth after taking a breath through the nose.\u00a0<em>Dhoompana<\/em>\u00a0should not be used by anyone less than 18 years old and is recommended for anyone aged 12 to 80.<strong><sup>[21,22]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>12<em>. Abhyanga<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To massage the body):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Abhyanga<\/em>\u00a0should be done before doing\u00a0<em>Vayayama<\/em>. As a component of\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>, it must be practiced<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"last  column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">every day. It is important for your health since it reduces\u00a0<em>Vata<\/em>\u00a0and fatigue, enhances vision, nourishes the body, encourages restful sleep, clears the skin, and fortifies the body. It prolongs youth and lengthens life. During\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>, it should not be done forcefully as it consumes energy. Oils which are\u00a0<em>Sheeta<\/em>\u00a0in nature i.e., made with\u00a0<em>Sheeta Dravya<\/em>\u00a0should be used, e.g.,\u00a0<em>Chandana Tail, Narikela Tail<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13.<em>\u00a0Vyayama<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Exercise):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One should perform\u00a0<em>Vyayama<\/em>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0based on their\u00a0<em>Bala<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Agni<\/em>\u00a0condition. If a person&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Bala<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Agni<\/em>\u00a0are extremely weak, meaning they are unable to carry out their daily tasks and cannot correctly digest food, they should not practice\u00a0<em>Vayayama<\/em>. However, if they are capable, they can engage in light activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14.<em>\u00a0Udvartana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To rub body parts with\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu, Snigdha Udvartana<\/em>\u00a0should be done with\u00a0<em>Sheeta<\/em>\u00a0<em>Veerya<\/em>\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>\u00a0like\u00a0<em>Chandana<\/em>\u00a0powder &amp;\u00a0<em>Usheera<\/em>\u00a0powder etc. mixed with oil. It pacifies\u00a0<em>Vata<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>15<em>. Kshoura Karma<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To cut hair, nails etc.):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Kshoura Karma<\/em>\u00a0means cutting of nails, hair, beard, and moustache. It should be done every five days to maintain personal hygiene.<strong><sup>[23]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>16<em>. Snana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Bath):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Snana<\/em>\u00a0is always\u00a0<em>Pathya<\/em>\u00a0(beneficial). It is\u00a0<em>Deepana<\/em>\u00a0(improves digestive strength),\u00a0<em>Vrishya<\/em>\u00a0(aphrodisiac), increases\u00a0<em>Oja<\/em>\u00a0(immunity) and\u00a0<em>Bala<\/em>\u00a0(strength), destroys itching, tiredness, sweating,\u00a0<em>Tandra<\/em>, thirst and burning sensation.<strong><sup>[24]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, cold water should be used for\u00a0<em>Snana<\/em>. It provides an instant cooling effect to the body and improves\u00a0<em>Jathragni<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>17<em>. Aahara<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Diet):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, one should consume\u00a0<em>Anna-Paana<\/em>\u00a0(food &amp; drinks) predominant in\u00a0<em>Madhura, Sheeta, Drava, Snigdha<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Laghu<\/em>\u00a0properties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>a)\u00a0<em>Madhura:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>Aahara<\/em>\u00a0being\u00a0<em>Rasa-Pradhana<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Rasa<\/em>\u00a0predominant) so one should consume\u00a0<em>Madhura Rasa<\/em>\u00a0predominant\u00a0<em>Aahara<\/em>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu. Madhura Rasa<\/em>\u00a0nourishes all\u00a0<em>Dhatu<\/em>, acts as\u00a0<em>Balya<\/em>\u00a0(provides energy), quenches thirst and relieves and<\/p>\n<div class=\"first column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">destroys burning sensation.<strong><sup>[25]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0It is an instant source of energy because it breaks down quickly into its simplest form and its earliest digestion starts in the oral cavity. So food items like\u00a0<em>Sharkara, Sharbata, Shreekhanda, Ikshu Rasa, Paanaka,<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Mantha<\/em>\u00a0should be taken in\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>\u00a0which has\u00a0<em>Madhura<\/em>\u00a0<em>Vipaaka<\/em>\u00a0should also be preferred during\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0like Milk,\u00a0<em>Sattu<\/em>, fruits like\u00a0<em>Draksha<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Kharjoora<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Aamra<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>b)\u00a0<em>Sheeta<\/em>:\u00a0<\/strong>One should use\u00a0<em>Sheeta Dravya<\/em>\u00a0like\u00a0<em>Paanaka<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Mantha<\/em>\u00a0along with\u00a0<em>Hima<\/em>\u00a0(ice) and cold water.\u00a0<em>Sheeta Veerya Draya<\/em>\u00a0should be consumed e.g.\u00a0<em>Shali<\/em>\u00a0rice,\u00a0<em>Godhooma<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Dugdha<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Karpoora<\/em>\u00a0It shows their effect during digestion and till it remains in the body i.e. until these are not excreted out of the body.<strong><sup>[26]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0Therefore, symptoms like\u00a0<em>Daaha<\/em>\u00a0(Burning sensation) and\u00a0<em>Trishna<\/em>\u00a0(Thirst) will be relieved for a long time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>c)\u00a0<em>Drava<\/em>:\u00a0<\/strong><em>Drava<\/em>\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>\u00a0(Liquid diet) should be used predominantly during\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0as it replenishes the fluid loss of the body. E.g. plenty of water, milk,\u00a0<em>Paanaka<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Sharbata<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Mantha<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Maansa-Rasa<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Jaangala<\/em>\u00a0animals like goat, sheep, rabbit,\u00a0<em>Shambara<\/em>\u00a0(<em>Baraha<\/em>\u00a0<em>Singa<\/em>) etc. should be included in the diet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>d)\u00a0<em>Snigdha<\/em>:<\/strong>\u00a0One should take\u00a0<em>Snigdha Aahara<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>. The use of\u00a0<em>Ghritta<\/em>\u00a0is recommended by\u00a0<em>Acharya<\/em>\u00a0during this\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>. The dose of\u00a0<em>Ghritta<\/em>\u00a0affects\u00a0<em>Jathragni<\/em>. If\u00a0<em>Gritta<\/em>\u00a0is consumed in low amounts, it enhances\u00a0<em>Jathragni<\/em>\u00a0and if it is consumed in the maximum amount, it vitiates\u00a0<em>Jathragni<\/em>. During\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Agni<\/em>\u00a0is weakest therefore low dose of\u00a0<em>Ghritta<\/em>\u00a0should be consumed to improve\u00a0<em>Agni<\/em>. It might be better if\u00a0<em>Ghritta<\/em>\u00a0is to be taken along with\u00a0<em>Lavana-Bhaskara<\/em>\u00a0<em>Churna<\/em>\u00a0before the meal because\u00a0<em>Lavana<\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0<em>Aruksha<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Sukshma<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Vayi<\/em>.<strong><sup>[27]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0(Ch. Su 13\/98) It can provide the effect of\u00a0<em>Sneha<\/em>\u00a0in\u00a0<em>Sukshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Srotasa<\/em>.\u00a0<em>Jala<\/em>\u00a0has also\u00a0<em>Snigdha<\/em>\u00a0property and thus it helps to maintain\u00a0<em>Snigdhta<\/em>\u00a0in the body.<\/p>\n<p><strong>e)\u00a0<em>Laghu<\/em>:\u00a0<\/strong>One should consume\u00a0<em>Laghu Dravya<\/em>\u00a0(light in nature) e.g.\u00a0<em>Raga-Shadava<\/em>. If\u00a0<em>Aahara<\/em>\u00a0is\u00a0<em>Guru<\/em>\u00a0in nature, it should be consumed in\u00a0<em>Laghu<\/em>\u00a0(less) quantity to make it easy to digest. E.g. less quantity of\u00a0<em>Jaangla Maansa<\/em>, fried\u00a0<em>Pooplika<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Paanaka<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Contraindicated\u00a0<em>Aahara<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Aahara Dravya<\/em>\u00a0predominant in\u00a0<em>Lavana, Amla<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Katu<\/em>\u00a0<em>Rasa<\/em>\u00a0are contraindicated during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"last  column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\">. As it is advisable to use all\u00a0<em>Rasa<\/em>\u00a0in all\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>\u00a0but predominantly use of\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>-specific Rasa should be done. (28)(29) Therefore,\u00a0<em>Lavana<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Amla<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Katu Rasa<\/em>\u00a0can be consumed in\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, but in less quantity.\u00a0<em>Madira<\/em>\u00a0(Alcohol) should not be consumed at all or in less quantity or mixed with plenty of water during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>18.<em>\u00a0Chankramana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Slow walk):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Chankramana<\/em>\u00a0improves\u00a0<em>Agni<\/em>.<strong><sup>[30]<\/sup>\u00a0<\/strong>During\u00a0<em>Greeshima<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Chankramana<\/em>\u00a0should be done in open ground where a cool breeze is flowing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>19<em>. Lepa<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To apply the paste of different\u00a0<em>Dravya<\/em>\u00a0on the body):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu, Lepa<\/em>\u00a0of\u00a0<em>Chandana, Hribera<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Karpoora<\/em>\u00a0should be applied on the body. These are\u00a0<em>Sugandhi<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Sheetala<\/em>\u00a0&amp; provide\u00a0<em>Oja<\/em>\u00a0(immunity) and\u00a0<em>Bala<\/em>\u00a0(strength)<strong><sup>[31,32,33]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>20.<em>\u00a0Vastra Dharna<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Clothing):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, one should wear light and comfortable clothing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21<em>. Pada Prakshalana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To wash the feet):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, one should use cold water for\u00a0<em>Pada<\/em>\u00a0<em>Prakshalana<\/em>\u00a0(foot wash). It destroys impurities and diseases of the foot, tiredness and\u00a0<em>Bhoota-Badha<\/em>\u00a0(many infections and infestations) and nourishes the eyes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>22.<em>\u00a0Paduka Dharana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Footwear):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, porous or airy foot wares should be used. It causes air circulation around the feet.\u00a0<em>Paduka<\/em>\u00a0(shoe) protects the skin of the foot from the hot surface of the earth, and direct sun rays and protects from various insects common during this\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23<em>. Chhatra Dharana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To carry an umbrella):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Chhatra Dharana<\/em>\u00a0is beneficial during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0as it protects from wind, dust, strong sunrays and rain. The colour of the umbrella should be light so that it would reflect maximum sun rays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>24.<em>\u00a0Danda Dharana<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(To carry a stick):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Danda Dharana<\/em>\u00a0is beneficial during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0as it protects from crawling insects, snakes and other harmful animals. The use of a long umbrella provides benefits of an umbrella as well as a long stick.<\/p>\n<div class=\"first column\">\n<div class=\"page_content split\">\n<div class=\"split\" data-id=\"Materials_and_Methods\">\n<p class=\"split\"><strong class=\"split\">25.<em class=\"split\">\u00a0Jiwikoparjana Upaya<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0(Measures adopted to earn a living):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>, one must shift their working hours so as to avoid an extremely hot atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Ratricharya<\/em><\/strong><strong>\u00a0during\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The regimen followed from evening hours till night is known as\u00a0<em>Ratricharya<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0<em>Bhojana-Kaala\u00a0<\/em>(Timing of meal at night):\u00a0<\/strong>One should take the meal within the first\u00a0<em>Prahara\u00a0<\/em>of\u00a0<em>Ratri\u00a0<\/em>(First three hours of the night). It should be taken in lesser quantity than that of lunch. One should avoid intake of food which is difficult to digest.<strong><sup>[34]<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Sleep:\u00a0<\/strong>After taking a light and conducive diet, one should go to sleep with a pleasant mind on a comfortable bed, after offering prayers to God.<strong><sup>[35]<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0One should go to bed on time because it balances\u00a0<em>Dhatu<\/em>, destroys\u00a0<em>Tandra<\/em>\u00a0(laziness), provides\u00a0<em>Pushti<\/em>\u00a0(nourishment),\u00a0<em>Bala<\/em>\u00a0(strength),\u00a0<em>Varna<\/em>\u00a0(complexion) and\u00a0<em>Utsaha<\/em>\u00a0(activeness) and improves\u00a0<em>Jatharagni<\/em>\u00a0(digestive strength). The length of nights is shorter in\u00a0<em>Greeshma Ritu<\/em>\u00a0therefore\u00a0<em>Divasvapna<\/em>\u00a0(day sleep) is advisable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Sexual activities:\u00a0<\/strong>According to\u00a0<em>Acharya Charaka<\/em>, sexual activities are contraindicated during\u00a0<em>Greeshma<\/em>\u00a0<em>Ritu<\/em>. For example,\u00a0<em>Dantadhavana<\/em>\u00a0(cleaning of teeth),\u00a0<em>Jivha<\/em>&#8211;<em>Nirlekhana<\/em>\u00a0(cleaning of the tongue),\u00a0<em>Gandusha<\/em>\u00a0(Oil pulling),\u00a0<em>Kawala<\/em>\u00a0(Mouth wash), and\u00a0<em>Dhoomapana<\/em>\u00a0(Medicated smoke inhalation) are the activities that promote oral health. Likewise,\u00a0<em>Anjana<\/em>\u00a0(application of collyrium) preserves the health of the eye.\u00a0<em>Pratimarsha<\/em>\u00a0<em>Nasya<\/em>\u00a0(Nasal instillation of drops) maintains nasal health. When we talk about\u00a0<em>Dinacharya<\/em>, every activity described in it needs a minute change or modification according to changes in seasons.
