You meditate a few times \u2013 just whenever you can fit it in. But after a couple weeks, the practice is overtaken by demands from your mind, family, career and life. Sound familiar?<\/p>\n<p>Creating a supportive dinacharya is the key to health and removal of diseases. By making the changes you want to see in your life, through a simple schedule, you become in control of your day instead of it controlling you. If you&#8217;re looking to begin meditating (or eat better, exercise more, or spend time with family), rather than making a resolution, create a dinacharya. It&#8217;s a sustainable approach to grounding into your day. It&#8217;ll lay the foundation for everything else to fall into place in your life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to build a simple Ayurvedic daily routine?<\/strong>\u00a0Better to start small than not all! Begin with one or two new practices or changes. Then add on gradually.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a simple structure to start with:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Wake before sunrise<\/strong>. Becoming an early riser ensures you avoid sleeping past the heavier\u00a0<a title=\"5 Ways to Balance Kapha Dosha this Kapha Season\" href=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/blogs\/blog\/five-tips-to-balance-kapha-dosha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kapha<\/a>\u00a0time, which leads to grogginess and inertia in the body and mind. Aim to get out of bed before or at 6 a.m.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Purify your body<\/strong>.\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3V6c1qc\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3V6c1qc\">Scrape your tongue<\/a>, brush your teeth, use your\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4fM27lE\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4fM27lE\">neti pot<\/a>\u00a0and bathe or shower.<\/li>\n<li>Practice\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/blogs\/blog\/a-grounding-meditation-practice?_pos=15&amp;_sid=558bd200c&amp;_ss=r\" href=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/blogs\/blog\/a-grounding-meditation-practice?_pos=15&amp;_sid=558bd200c&amp;_ss=r\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meditation<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/pages\/holistic-yoga-with-hale-pule\" href=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/pages\/holistic-yoga-with-hale-pule\">Holistic Yoga<\/a>\u00a0to balance your body and mind.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eat breakfast by 7:30 or 8 a.m<\/strong>. Take 20 minutes to sit down and give your digestion a good start for the day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eat lunch by 12 or 12:30 p.m<\/strong>. Setting a designated time to eat lunch reduces the desire to overeat or eat poorly because you&#8217;re too hungry. This will improve your digestion and as a result your health. Walking away from work or daily activities for a short time also helps you come back with a clear focus for your afternoon. Be sure to sit down while you eat and leave your phone, email or other distractions behind.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eat dinner by 6 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0This gives your body enough time to digest before bedtime so you avoid feeling foggy and heavy in the morning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wind down activities<\/strong>\u00a0(including shutting off electronics) one hour before bedtime and focus on your spiritual practice, reading or quiet time with loved ones. This prepares your body for the transition to sleep, ensuring a peaceful rest and more energy for the next day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Go to bed before 10 p.m.<\/strong>\u00a0Getting to sleep before the more active pitta time begins (after 10 p.m.) ensures you don\u2019t get caught in the \u201csecond wind\u201d trap \u2013 working or doing chores at midnight will not lead to you feeling good the next day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Once you relax into this basic structure, there are other practices you may want to add to improve your health, such as\u00a0<a title=\"Release your best self with abhyanga\" href=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/blogs\/blog\/release-your-best-self-with-abhyanga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abhyanga<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From Ayurveda, we understand the greatest benefit dinacharya offers is calming\u00a0<\/strong><a title=\"Vata season: Seven tips to soothe and balance\" href=\"https:\/\/halepule.com\/blogs\/blog\/vata-season-seven-tips-to-soothe-and-balance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>vata dosha<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0by tuning to your body\u2019s natural rhythms.<\/strong>\u00a0The lack of routine weakens our digestive capacity overtime and disturbs vata.
